FYI, I use ArcMap on our Trimble.

I would also recommend posting your questions about Trimble Units to the
Hudson Valley/Catskill Region Conservation Easement Working Group listserve.
The address is hvcatskillcewg at lists.ltanet.org

There are other people who are using them and you might benefit from getting
multiple opinions. If you like I can add you to the listserve. BTW we may
be having our next meeting in late January/early February. It will focus on
1) Accreditation and 2) wind/solar energy installations and forestry (will
help improve easement language).

Subject: Some advices

Mr. Diaz,

As Lucy Hayden mentioned in an earlier e-mail, I am starting a position with
Winnakee as stewardship manager. I am currently gathering some information
concerning equipment as we are looking into acquiring a GPS unit and digital
camera.

I tried to call you office earlier, hoping to introduce myself more
personally and get some advices from you. I will try again later.

We are thinking of buying a Trimble GeoXT with the Terra sync Pro Pathfinder
office software, we also need a digital camera and so far a Ricoh 500SE
digital camera (without GPS, with Wi-fi) is our first choice. You probably
have used or heard about these models and it would help me to hear if this
is what you would recommend.

Also I had the chance to go out with Craig Vogel and monitor one of our
easement. I learnt a lot but this type of monitoring is new to me, I used to
do essentially wildlife and habitat monitoring in different ecosystems and
for different purposes: I would appreciate to learn some field monitoring
techniques from you as well. Do you think I could join you in the field for
a day of half a day? If so, anytime next week would be fine to me.

I thank you for your time and look forward to your answer,

Sincerely,

 Raphael Notin
