Hi Dave,
Yes, sorry I could not stick around for the meeting, but I am interested in
seeing it continue.
1. Keep the group going? Yes, I think it's very useful.
2. Pursue Conservation Catalyst grant? This is a good idea. Did you
talk about which land trust would be the receiving land trust and how the
grant would be actually used?
3. Create a steering committee? Interested in taking part? I am
interested in taking part in a steering committee. Your session on
accreditation was great and there is so much potential for sharing
information like that. Easement drafting as new issues arise sounds like a
great resource.
4. Interested in being a host land trust? Unfortunately Winnakee has
neither the space nor the means to host at the moment, but I could probably
arrange a meeting at a local available space, such as the Elmendorph. It
would depend on what your attendence typically is.
Keep me posted?

Subject: [Hvcatskillcewg] Questions for the group
Hello all,
As you know, a few of us did a little brainstorming after Scenic Hudson's
meeting on 9/12 in Poughkeepsie. Here's a quick summary:
1. Keep the working group going; all felt that it is worthwhile
2. We ought to pursue a Conservation Catalyst grant from LTA (Hudson
Highlands Land Trust, Wallkill Valley Land Trust and Columbia Land
Conservancy expressed interest in making that happen)
3. That a steering committee should be created to help plan meetings.
(Hudson Highlands Land Trust, Wallkill Valley Land Trust and Columbia Land
Conservancy expressed interest in being part of a steering committee). The
committee could be comprised of 4-5 land trusts.
4. Additional topics were forwarded including- Conservation Easement
defense, conservation subdivisions, issues presented by gas and other
utility exploration and establishment, follow up session on accreditation
(ask accredited orgs in region to share experiences and provide tips), solar
and wind energy language in conservation easements, CE drafting 101-601.
5. Frequency of meetings- probably 2-3 per year.
6. Generate a list of host land trusts (host meetings of group).
In order to get a better handle on where we're going as a group, please take
a moment to answer the following questions:
5. Keep the group going?
6. Pursue Conservation Catalyst grant?
7. Create a steering committee? Interested in taking part?
8. Interested in being a host land trust?
Feel free to respond to the entire group or send them to me. I am happy to
compile responses and ideas and report back to the group.
David
