Connecting community to the land 

of southern Ulster County.

 

 

1.	Keep the group going?  Yes, this is important and useful
2.	Pursue Conservation Catalyst grant? Yes - perhaps a grant on
strengthening the information sharing from just a list serv and our own
experiences and expertise.  Perhaps funds for training ourselves by bringing
in an expert.  Funds for travel reimbursements to the meetings.  Funds for
Researching what other easement groups have done around the country and
doing a survey to find what would be useful to us.  Funds to take that
information and up a networking tool or website or something on the
Internet.  Funds to pay an IT person to do this.  (Such a tool would be
freestanding from any individual land trust's website)  This grant could be
applied for by two or three land trusts together.  I would think a grant of
maybe $5000 with maybe $2000 in matching funds put up joinlty by our land
trusts might do this.  (Matching funds can often be in staff time and things
too.   And some staff time for the project might be funded in the grant.)
3.	Create a steering committee?  Interested in taking part?  Yes.  WVLT
volunteers to be involved.
4.	Interested in being a host land trust?  Yes.  We have our own small
meeting room (seats about 10 easily) and a much larger free space across the
street at the library.

compile responses and ideas and report back to the group.
