Hello everyone,
As some of you are already aware, my last day with the Columbia Land Conservancy is January 5th and I'll begin a new position with the NYCDEP on January 11th. Working at CLC has been a great experience but my 2-hour (each way) commute has become a real killer, so on I must move.
Some of you may be wondering what is going on with the HV/Catskill Region Conservation Easement Working Group (HV/Catskill CEWG). Well I'm happy to say that Sue Currier and Melinda Ketcham from the Delaware Highlands Land Conservancy have continued to move things ahead and will be planning a meeting/workshop in the future. I'll continue to be involved as much as possible but Sue and Melinda will really be the point people. Stay tuned for more on this in future...
I wish you all a happy New Year and much success in the coming year. See you all soon!
David

Hi Melinda,
That sounds like a really good plan. I think from this point forward you all should definitely be the point people for the group. I'd still like to be involved with helping to plan and can be assigned tasks but there's really no way I can contribute the time necessary to do what I've done in the past.
Thank you all so much for hanging on to the idea of the HV/Catskill CEWG while I twisted in the wind over the past year. Now we'll be able to bring some quality workshops and meetings to the group.
David

Hi David-
Vicki and I are going to start to work on organizing a panel discussion based off the survey results from the Catskill/Hudson Valley Land Trusts. We chose 'easement drafting' as our first topic for the group- Easement language (templates, whereas clauses, affirmative language, backup holders, alternative energy, gas leasing, interconnects, climate change, etc.)
So our next steps are to:
* Choose a date
* Choose a location
* Choose what areas we would like to cover
* Choose people to speak on the panel
* Outreach to the land trusts about the workshop
* Create agenda for the workshop
Let me and Vicki know what you think and if you have any ideas for the above steps.
Thanks,
Melinda Ketcham
