From forest_carbon_credits at sunonesolutions.com Mon Jun 6 12:09:34 2011 From: forest_carbon_credits at sunonesolutions.com (SunOne Solutions) Date: Mon, 6 Jun 2011 11:09:34 -0500 Subject: [Hvcatskillcewg] Upcoming Deadline for Carbon Income from Conservation Projects Message-ID: <79224F918AB34056B76F6D2E2C5C425D@JacePC> Dear Land Trust, Did you record new Conservation Easements as 2010 drew to close? If you did, then it is possible that you have a carbon revenue opportunity from that easement that will expire in the next 30 days if you choose not to act. Simply put, after a Conservation Easement has been recorded on a property there is a 6 month window to have that property submitted to the California carbon program. That means for properties with easements recorded in December have until June to be eligible for carbon revenue. After the 6 month anniversary of the easement record date, that property will lose its eligibility and will miss out on the opportunity to earn carbon income for the conservation commitment, as the easement is not considered ?new and additional? after six months from recording date. It is very simple to determine if acres under a new easement are eligible with one phone call to SunOne. As little as 500 acres with at least 50% forested land can be eligible. There is no cost to the land trust or the landowner to find out if an easement is eligible for carbon revenue, and there is no out of pocket expense to submit the project to the California registry. Recently SunOne successfully listed Avoided Conversion Carbon Projects for land owners working with two Land Trust Alliance members, one in Tennessee and one in California, each with conservation easements that were recorded in December of 2010. With the listing deadline looming, SunOne was able to provide eligibility and feasibility assessments quickly and then expedite the listing process before the 6 month deadline of the easement. The carbon revenue on each project could yield as much as $2,000-$3,000/acre in carbon revenue over the life of the project to the land owners. Because of the deadline it is important to act now. Once an easement is more than 6 months old it will not be eligible as ?new and additional? for carbon revenue. Please call or email us today for a quick and free assessment. A few minutes of your time could be worth a lot of money to newly protected acres. SunOne can also provide a quick assessment of carbon opportunities on land that is being contemplated for easement in the future, where we can demonstrate the potential value of carbon, without cost or obligation. SunOne is a carbon project developer that can maximize your carbon revenue and minimize the time and confusion of developing a project. We are working with numerous Land Trusts around the U.S. and would like to show you how new conservation easements can earn carbon revenue.
